CheckOnMe.org: Overview of the Service
...coming soon.

Steffanie Lynch is developing a new free internet-based public service that is anticipated to go live by September 2007. Although the anticipated non-profit organization has not yet been formed, it is a not-for-profit venture that Steffanie Lynch and a few of her associates are sponsoring.

The mission of this organization is to provide a free service for people who live alone that will alert an outside party that they may need to be checked on. For example, someone living alone that has fallen and cannot get to help can be assured that someone will be aware that they may be incapacitated and unable to respond to their phone, email and other normal communications.

This free service will allow anyone to setup an automated notification process that can be designed in a variety of ways, depending on how the options are set. Here is a basic example of how someone can use this service:

  • A single woman in her 40's lives alone with her 2 dogs. She is concerned that if something happened to her, no one would know she was in trouble or to take care of her dogs.

  • She can setup this service to send herself a text message to 2 different e-mail addresses and one cell phone each morning at 10:00 a.m.

  • She can set the service to accept her reply from any one of these destinations as an indication that she is fine and responsive.

  • The service can then be setup to send a first-level alert to 2 outside parties when she does not respond by 10:00 p.m. that evening.

  • Additional notifications will continue to be sent out to other outside parties every 4 hours until the single woman responds to cancel the alert.

Some expanded services will be made available at cost. It is hoped that these services may also be provided free to eligible persons in need through our CheckOnMe.org sponsor network. Examples of expanded services would be the ability to receive the notification by telephone as a voice message, TDD or fax, which could incur charges for equipment, long distance and messaging.

Please review our Privacy and Security policy statement, which describes the methods that will be used to keep information provided by the service users strictly confidential.

CheckOnMe.org is hoping that other charitable service organizations, houses of worship, emergency services and public service agencies that provide assistance to people with special needs and to people who live alone, will help us get the word out about this free service. For more information on joining the CheckOnMe.org sponsor network, please complete our contact e-form.

Anyone interested in obtaining additional information about iWorkPlace or Steffanie Lynch can contact Ms. Lynch by using the contact e-form.

CheckOnMe.org is interested in any opportunity to promote this free service at events and group gatherings. By promoting this service before it goes live, we can continue to gather requirements to fine-tune the application design and make it even more valuable to a greater user base. Please let us know what opportunities you have for us to put up a display and hand out brochures about this service. Thank you.
