CheckOnMe.org: Founders and Sponsors
...know who you are dealing with.

Thank you for reading this page. In an era of misuse, abuse, malicious hacking, SPAM, information theft, unethical business practices, immoral deeds and misrepresentation, it is important that everyone who intends to use, promote, donate to or volunteer for this public service know something about the founders, creators and major sponsors of this organization. We want you to know who you are dealing with at CheckOnMe.org.

Steffanie Lynch is sponsoring and developing the CheckOnMe.org public service Web site and help center, scheduled to be available to the public later this year. She is currently taking on full responsibility of funding and technical staffing of the initial development.

Steffanie Lynch 2006The Internet services supporting CheckOnMe.org are secured, state-of-the-art network facilities located in St. Louis Missouri. Formerly iWorkPlace, Inc., the services are now owned and operated by Ms. Lynch during the transition to a restructured operation anticipated to be announced under a new brand name in first quarter 2008. Ms. Lynch continues to provide premium hosting and design services for serious small business and large corporation Web site customers in the U.S. and throughout the world.

Ask Dear WebbyiWorkPlace was owned and operated by Steffanie Lynch, who founded the company in 1995, bringing iWorkPlace over 20 years of experience in applications design, business analysis, graphical user interfaces, training and support programs, and leading edge technologies. Ms. Lynch is widely known amongst Internet communities as "Dr. Webby". She started out in the World Wide Web as "Ask Dear Webby" for the America Online community, assisting members with their personal Web page designs through free e-mail support that she personally responded to. Her free Virtual Library was recognized by PC Magazine as one of the Top 10 valuable links to visit. America Online recognized Ms. Lynch with the Web Diner Top Site award for the Complete Web Page Help free tutorial.

Steffanie Lynch's mission has always been to demonstrate to others how the Internet can be used to share and provide valuable information to all. The greatest obstacle in helping Internet "newbies" tap into this valuable communication tool was typically a fear of technology, prompting Ms. Lynch to promote her famous motto:

Stamp out misoneism (fear or intolerance of innovation or change).

During the early years, her customers dubbed her the "Barter Queen" because of her vast knowledge of free and for-trade services on the Internet. In fact, her first Internet venture, DrWebby.net, started up with no budget, trading company services for utilities, business administration support, office supplies, computer hardware and software, hosting, programming, Internet faxing, voice communications, pager services, and more.

As an Internet consultant, she continues to operate without a sales and advertising budget, and has derived the current customer base from word-of-mouth referrals. Initial customers were drawn to "Dr. Webby" through Ms. Lynch's free workshops on Internet Promotions and Putting Your Business on The World Wide Web, where valuable information was presented in an educational format without the typical sales pitch. A major philosophy of the company was "the more you give, the more you receive" and giving out free advice became the norm at these workshops. This philosophy will carry over into the formation and operation of CheckOnMe.org, through its sponsor, volunteer and member-to-member programs.

Her personal drive to create an income-producing business within an ethical and moral structure, providing valuable services at an affordable price, has given her a customer base comprised of close relationships and long-term associations. In recent years, with the increase in malicious attacks on Internet services and the high cost of security systems, costs to provide services have increased greatly. This defensive environment has made it more and more difficult to spend time and money on free public services. This situation became a major source of frustration for Steffanie Lynch, but in January 2005, Ms. Lynch decided to set up a think tank in South Carolina, where she has begun to develop affiliations with other charitable and not-for-profit organizations and volunteers who are helping her to get back on track in making the Internet her primary tool for serving others. Envisioned in 2001, CheckOnMe.org is one of the projects to benefit from this revitalization.

Boyd and Cynthia Walters 2005Her dear friends and co-founders, Boyd and Cynthia Walters are on board to help her get the word out about this new service. During July 2005, Ms. Lynch and the Walters headed out on their first road trip, participating in family-oriented and community events while wearing their CheckOnMe.org t-shirts and handing out brochures. While on this first road trip to get the word out, they had their first encounter with a Clay Aiken concert tour (Jukebox Tour 2005) and his wonderful and giving followers, many of whom have raised funds for The Bubel/Aiken Foundation, a charitable organization which he created two years earlier. Several people they met in Tom's River New Jersey are now supporters, and have joined in spreading the word about this caregiver service.

CheckOnMe.org encourages other charitable service organizations, churches, emergency services and public service agencies that provide assistance to people with special needs and to people who live alone, to help get the word out about this free service.
